Who We Are
Weed Wrangles are part of a nationwide volunteer effort dedicated to controlling invasive plant species that threaten our public parks, green spaces, and natural areas. These events bring together community members to learn about and actively remove invasive plants that are out-competing our native species. Volunteers are guided by Brownsburg Parks' Natural Resources team, making it an educational and impactful way to give back to nature.
What We Do
At Weed Wrangle events, volunteers roll up their sleeves to remove invasive plants like garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolata), which harms our native plant communities and wildlife. For example, garlic mustard can be deadly to the West Virginia White butterfly, a rare species that mistakenly lays its eggs on the plant, resulting in caterpillars that cannot survive. Through hands-on removal, we work to protect plants, pollinators, birds, and other wildlife that depend on healthy ecosystems. By joining us, you’ll learn to identify invasive species, gain practical knowledge on how to manage them, and become part of a national movement to protect our green spaces.
Whether you’re pulling weeds for the first time or are a seasoned pro, every Weed Wrangle is a rewarding and fun way to make a positive difference in your community.
Come help us celebrate and safeguard our natural areas!
